Fisher to enter Kentucky and Chicago
Sarah Fisher will make her IndyCar Series comeback with her own team for the races at Kentucky and Chicago later this year
The 27-year-old contested the Indianapolis 500 with her Sarah Fisher Racing team in May, but failed to secure the funding to compete in the series full time.
A sponsorship deal with American retail chain Dollar General has supplied the budget for the oval races at Kentucky on August 9 and Chicago on September 7.
"We're all excited to be racing," said Fisher. "It's great to return to Kentucky (where she qualified on pole in 2002) with my own team.
"I've done well there in the past and I believe I can do just as well or better with my own team behind me. We're going to do our best to bring home a victory."
Fisher is hoping that strong showings at Kentucky and Chicago will encourage Dollar General to fund a full campaign next season.
"They're getting a feel for what open-wheel racing is about," she added. "We'd love for them to go IndyCar racing with us full-time next year, but this is a great start."
