Vann gets Ferrari FIA Sportscar chance

The 27-year-old Englishman is set to fulfil a childhood ambition to drive one of the Prancing Horse's machines.

"To me the biggest thing is just driving a Ferrari," said Vann. "I'm a massive fan and have been for years. To race the 333SP has been an ambition of mine ever since the car came out in 1994. Even now that it has become reality I still feel quite overwhelmed. I can't wait to get the overalls on and sport the badge, then I can die happy!"

Vann impressed many with his performance in atrocious conditions at Spa last year when he led in the Kremer Lola-Roush. He was likely to have gone on to win his debut in prototypes had it not been for a loose wheel.

Now, the West Midlander is confident that the new Judd engine will do for Brums what it did for Doran Racing in the States during the 2000 season.

"I'm a little sad that the car won't have the Ferrari engine, but the Judd is so competitive and it sounds just as good as the Ferrari," he added.
