Timetable change rejigs Portland bill
Portland's round of the American Le Mans Series has been moved from Saturday to Sunday, series organisers have announced
Originally scheduled for Saturday, August 4, the sports car endurance race will now be run on Sunday, August 5, on the 1.944-mile road course. The weekend schedule adjustment also includes a change for the Trans-Am series, which will now race on Saturday rather than on Sunday as originally scheduled.
"Racing fans in Portland will have a great weekend of action in store for them," said Mike Nealy, president of race promoters Global Events Group. "The pairing of two of the best road racing series in the world on the same weekend at our facility will create a great deal of excitement."
ALMS executive director Bill Donaldson said: "The schedule change will benefit both series. The American Le Mans Series race will now be televised in evening prime time with the potential for a larger audience, and the Trans-Am Series will have the benefits of a live telecast."
