Super Pole: Bouchut takes slippery pole
Christophe Bouchut took pole position for Tuesday's French Bank Holiday FIA GT race in flying style at Magny-Cours this afternoon (Monday)
The Frenchman crossed the line sideways in his Larbre Competition Viper as he made a dash for the finish on his one-shot Super Pole qualifying lap. Bouchut shares his Viper with Jean-Philippe Belloc and set a time of 1m43.570s, just 0.194s ahead of second-placed man Mike Hezemans.
In damp and slippery conditions, the cars tip-toed around the Nevers circuit on their single laps which would decide the top 12 grid positions.
Reigning Champion Julian Bailey finished third in the Lister storm he shares with German Nicolaus Springer. Lister stable mate and last year's team mate Jamie Campbell-Walter finished in fifth with Team Rafanelli's Emanuele Naspetti splitting the two Storms.
Vincent Vosse rounded out the top six while Formula 3000 race winner from Sunday, Tomas Enge was the highest N-GT car in a respectable seventh. The Czech is sharing a Porsche 996 with his Nordic Racing F3000 team mate Justin Wilson for this race.
