Saleens on Valencia front row

Saleen S7s dominate the front row of the grid for the second round of the FIA GT Championship at Valencia this weekend, after the Vitaphone Racing entry driven by Uwe Alzen and Michael Bartels improved on Walter Lechner Jr's session one mark in his Konrad Motorsport version

The BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550s driven by Luca Cappellari and Fabrizio Gollin, Monza's first round winners, and Matteo Bobbi and Gabriele Gardel snatched the second row.

The impressive Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Murcielago, driven by Peter Kox and Oliver Gavin, will start fifth on the grid. The car's potential is already clear, having set the fastest time in yesterday's second wet free practice session, then posting third fastest in first qualifying this morning. The team had to rely on that 1m32.537s time however after the car failed a ride-height test in the second session.

Thomas Erdos and Mike Newton qualified the RML Saleen sixth ahead of Jesus Diez Villarroel, Gabriele Lancieri and Paulo Ruberti in the Graham Nash Motorsport Saleen. Jamies Campbell-Walter and Derbyshire qualified the Creation Autosportif Lister Storm 14th, three places above the factory version of Patrick Pearce, Paul Knapfield and Tom Coronel.

Freisinger Motorsport's Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr took pole position in the N-GT class in their Porsche 996 ahead of team-mates Stephane Ortelli and Emmanuel Collard.
