RML to run Saleens in 2004 GT series
Ray Mallock Limited will contest the entire FIA GT championship in 2004 as part of its full time return to sportscar racing. The team will field a pair of Saleen S7R's in a bid to take overall championship honours
The crew for one of the cars has already been confirmed. Thomas Erdos will again team up with his 2003 FIA GT partner Mike Newton. News of the second driver pairing will be announced in the near future.
RML Operations Director Phil Barker commented "The Saleen certainly has the pace to win races in FIA GT. A little winter development coupled to our knowledge of the car should put us in a strong position to challenge for the championship next year."
The RML team are very familiar with the Saleen chassis having been responsible for both the design and initial build of the supercar back in 2000. This was followed by a single car entry in the 2001 European Le Mans Series where the team scored four race wins out of five starts, securing the GTS championship title.
