Qualifying: Force One Viper on pole
The Force One Racing Viper driver by David Halliday, Philippe Alliot and Steve Zacchia claimed pole position for the FIA GT Championship race at Donington Park, edging the Saleen S7-R of Jean-Marc Gounon by just 0.054s
The British Lister team qualified third, leaving local favourite Jamie Campbell-Walter disappointed. "It is very close and I'm not too upset," he said, "but it would have been nice to have been on pole in our home race. The track didn't suit our set-up after the rain but the car is handling really well."
The British contingent had more success in the N-GT category, with Kelvin Burt qualifying first in class in his Ferrari 360 Modena. "I did a very fast lap, which was a bit surprising, as we did not go that fast yesterday, and I could criticise the lap, as there were many, many little mistakes," said Burt.
"I could have gone faster, and I was surprised when I saw the time. We've led all four races at some time, but we haven't managed to get a win yet. So I hope that tomorrow will go better."
