Herbert targets Sebring glory

British racing star Johnny Herbert says that success in next weekend's Sebring 12 Hours in Florida could be the key to unlocking his second victory in June's Le Mans 24 Hours

Herbert will share an Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx R8 with last year's Le Mans winner Guy Smith and Jamie Davies, and they are setting their sights high.

"Our ultimate 2004 goal is victory at Le Mans but Sebring will enable the team and drivers to gel," said Herbert. "Of course, it would be a great start if we enjoyed success at Sebring but it will be very tough. It's a very demanding track and the race features a big entry although I love having to overtake cars."

Smith is also of the mindset that a victory at Sebring is within the team's reach.

"My best Sebring finish was a third in 2002 and I am confident I have the equipment to go there and win," said Smith. "The Audi R8 will be the class of the field and although Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx is a new team, I'm convinced a top result is achievable."
