Guy Smith gets Sebring drive
Briton Guy Smith will race a Jim Matthews Riley & Scott in next month's Sebring 12 Hours. The 27-year-old will drive the same car he used to finish second at the Daytona 24 Hours two weeks ago
"I'm delighted to be competing at Sebring as it's a great event and I led the race there last year until brake problems dropped us to fourth," he said. "Following the success we had at Daytona, I feel confident of having another strong finish although we'll be looking for a win this time."
Smith has competed in the annual race, which kicks off the ALMS season on March 16, twice before. This year is the 50th running of America's oldest endurance race, and the Yorkshireman believes his Elan-powered MkIIIC will be among the best in the field.
"Throughout the Daytona event, we were consistently quick and despite the few problems we had, we were able to put in a really strong run and pushed the winning car right to the end. I'm sure Bill Riley and the rest of the team will pull out all the stops to make sure we're in with the best possible chance of winning the event."
Practice for the race begins on March 13.
