Brabham and McNish for Daytona Ferrari

American Le Mans Series opponents Allan McNish and David Brabham are to join forces in this year's Daytona 24 Hours

The Scot and the Australian will join Ralf Kelleners and Eric van der Poele in Risi Competizone's Ferrari 333SP prototype in the American sports car classic. Brabham had looked set to miss out on the event, due to clashing testing commitments with Panoz, but a change in its test schedule will allow him to race on February 3/4.

"It's great," said Brabham, son of triple world champion Sir Jack. "The 333SP might be a bit dated, but it's still a Ferrari and I'm excited about racing one."

Panoz, meanwhile, has decided to halve its ALMS attack this season, although it will continue to field two cars at Le Mans, Sebring and Petit Le Mans. Brabham and fellow ex-F1 driver Jan Magnussen will drive the single Panoz Roadster in the shorter distance events.

Dave Price, Panoz's race director, said: "We'd like to run two cars but it's expensive and at the moment we don't have any sponsorship."

Price hopes to have BMW-contracted JJ Lehto on his driving strength for Le Mans, but he has yet to secure the former event winner's release from the Munich marque.
