Yoong to race for Lammers
Malaysia's A1 Grand Prix driver Alex Yoong will join Jan Lammers' Racing for Holland team for this season's Le Mans Series and the Le Mans 24 Hours
The deal came to fruition after Yoong and Lammers (who also runs Holland's A1GP franchise) became acquainted at A1GP meetings.
This will be sometime Formula One and Champ Car driver Yoong's first taste of sportscar racing.
"I have always wanted to drive the Le Mans 24 Hours and to be able to do it for the first time with such a well known and respected personality and driver such as Jan Lammers is an excellent opportunity," he said.
"It has been a pleasure and a challenge to race against his team in A1GP and I look forward to racing with him throughout the summer months."
The Malaysian A1GP team are helping Yoong to find sponsors for the programme.
"This announcement perfectly illustrates our long-term strategy to be competing in A1GP in the winter months and then to have a significant presence in sports cars and long distance races in the summer months," explained team principal Jack Cunningham.
