WTCC Top 10

Autosport.com gives its verdict on the top ten drivers in the World Touring Car Championship this year, from those flying high to those ducking under the radar

1. Yvan Muller

A textbook season by one of touring car racing's finest practitioners, who found the perfect way to lay to rest the ghosts of 2007.

2. Rob Huff

A huge improvement from the young Briton, whose speed and maturity this year should have secured his long-term future in the championship.

3. Andy Priaulx

A gallant if frustrating season from the triple world champion. But Priaulx thrives on adversity, so expect a fight next year.

4. Gabriele Tarquini

Often impulsive when he'd be better served by discretion, but at 46 is still the benchmark for SEAT drivers before they think about Muller.

5. James Thompson

Once again faced with an under-developed car and an under-resourced team, but delivered whenever there was an opportunity.

6. Tom Coronel

Rarely has a WTCC victory been more deserved than Coronel's. He's very close to the top of the list of guys who should have a full factory seat.

7. Augusto Farfus

Accomplished at charging through from the back, but often responsible for being in the situation in the first place. No question marks over his speed, though.

8. Sergio Hernandez

Hard to gauge his true speed because the independent field is so random, but often closer to the works cars than he had any right to be

9. Alain Menu

A lot of bad luck for Menu this season, but three wins stand as proof that he was able to capitalise on opportunities when they arose.

10. Rickard Rydell

He edged out Jorg Muller for the top ten by winning two races to Muller's one. There were days when he shone, others when he was unnoticeable.
