Wilson secures Dallara Nissan drive

Reigning Formula 3000 champion Justin Wilson has landed a full-time drive to race in this years new Spanish Dallara World Series according to this week's AUTOSPORT

The Brit has signed for Racing Engineering, winners of last year's Spanish F3 series, and will compete in all nine rounds of the series.

"It's great to finally get something sorted out," said Wilson, whose attempts to find an F1 or CART drive failed to bear fruit. "The team were strong in Spanish F3 and although it's their first attempt at this level, they're professional and ambitious - just how I like it."

The re-vamped series had new Dallara chassis that use V6 engines. The series has attracted a strong line-up of cars and teams and is now a serious rival to F3000.

"It's meant to be a bit like Formula Nippon was five years ago - a series which is well recognised where you can earn some money," said Wilson. "I have no problems doing this for a couple of years, but the ultimate aim is still to get to F1 or CART."

The season kicks off at Valencia on May 12.

The full story appears in AUTOSPORT, which is on sale on Thursday
