Two DPWM rounds with ETCC in 2004

The LG Super Racing Weekend promotion, headlined by the FIA GT and ETCC series, will host two rounds of the DMSB's 2004 Deutsche Produktionswagen Meisterschaft (DPWM) within the ETCC races at Spa on July 31 and Oschersleben on September 19. The move is the result of an agreement between various European national touring car promoters to rationalise the category [Aug 7], in an FIA-endorsed strategy allowing cars built to Super 2000 regulations to compete in national championships

The DPWM entries will compete in the same races as the ETCC cars, adopting the same sporting regulations. However, because the two championships have different tyre suppliers, the ETCC competitors will not be eligible to score points for the DPWM and vice versa.

"I'm particularly pleased because this is the first fruit of our strategy to start a close cooperation with the promoters of the national touring car championships," said ETCC promoter Marcello Lotti. "I'm sure we'll enjoy mutual benefits from this cooperation, and that we'll be in a position to offer huge starting grids to the fans."
