Surtees wants feeder system for A1
John Surtees wants to add further drivers to his A1 GP feeder system in the future
A1 Team GBR principal Surtees has helped secure his driver Robbie Kerr and Team Canada's Sean McIntosh a drive in the World Series by Renault with KTR this season, but wants to recruit further drivers to a scheme to help progress up the motor racing ladder.
Surtees says he also wants to help Team GBR driver Alex Lloyd get more race experience, having not used him in any A1 Grand Prix races this season.
"We have to create a feeder system for A1 GP," Surtees told autosport.com, "because we were denied a number of drivers we would have liked to have considered early on. We wanted to make sure we have our own feeder system in place and there will be one or two others added.
"Alex has suffered certain problems which are to his detriment. We didn't have two cars at the beginning of the season as originally planned, and he hasn't had a chance, or any time in the seat.
"Certainly I personally feel for the fact that he hasn't been able to have a drive. It is unlikely he will get a drive in this series this year, but he needs traditional race time this season.
"But I hope next year we can give him a hand and help him get a race drive. We hope it can be a feeder system."
