Shunt shakes up Russell

The Mark Burdett Motorsport driver went off at Church Corner and was pitched into a roll after his front-left wheel dug into the ground. Russell, who was taken to Baskingstoke General Hospital and held for observation, was unable to take part in the races, but will return for the series' next round at Croft

Team boss Mark Burdett said: "Matt's a little shaken, but he's OK. It was a big accident, but the car stood up well."

Fortec Motorsport driver Charles Hollings was also forced to miss the race after a heavy crash in testing. Hollings, who was uninjured in the crash, said: "I don't know what happened. The car just stepped out at the back. I don't know if something broke on the car or if it just caught a bump."

Hollings, 22, attempted to switch to the Mark Burdett team for the rest of the weekend, but was unable to do so after the clerk of the course ruled he could only race the car he was scrutineered in.

Team Firstair driver James Murphy also rolled during Sunday's second race, but was uninjured.
