Servia confirmed at PWR for 2002
The team formerly known as PacWest Racing, PWR, has confirmed Oriol Servia for their second car alongside Scott Dixon a matter of days before the start of the Champ Car season
Servia has raced in Champ Cars for two years, with a best finish of third at Detroit in 2000 while driving for the defunct PPI team. The Spaniard has been impressive in testing for PWR.
"I'm very honoured to start my third CART season with PWR and taking over Mauricio Gugelmin's seat," said Servia. "Mo has done a great job and has always impressed me. I am extremely honoured and hope I follow in his footsteps. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to learn more from him.
"This year I've done much more testing and feel it's really going to help me, so I'm confident we'll be up at the front," Servia added. "The team has been building momentum throughout our testing sessions and I think we're just where we want to be going into the season."
Gugelmin is expected to remain with PWR in an advisory or management capacity.
