Salaquarda to race for Czech team

Ex-Formula Three racer Filip Salaquarda will drive for A1GP Team Czech Republic for the remaining three rounds of this season

The 24-year-old has made one previous appearance for the Czech team, at Shanghai in the penultimate round of the 2006/07 season. He will take the place of Josef Kral, who made his debut in the series last time out in South Africa.

Salaquarda also knows the circuit at Brands Hatch and believes he can quickly get to grips with the Mexico City track where he'll make his first outing next weekend.

"I don't know the track in Mexico but I am allowed to participate in the rookie session, so I should learn that quickly," he said. "I raced at Shanghai last year in A1GP and finished in the points, and Brands is no stranger to me because I raced on the shorter version the Euro Series."

Salaquarda had been hoping to contest Champ Car Atlantic this season, but has been left without a drive after his deal with Brooks Racing fell through.

"I wont be racing in the states this year because the team didn't fulfil their promise, so I am fully focussed on A1GP now. I've done a few Atlantic tests and have been training hard so I feel that I am well prepared for the coming races."
