Richards to promote BAR and F1 in China

Following this weekend's Japanese GP, BAR team principal David Richards and race driver Jenson Button will undertake a two-day visit to China, ahead of the nation's inaugural F1 race on September 26, 2004, on the new at the Shanghai International Circuit. The team's Chinese-language team website, www.BARf1.com.cn, will go live early next month, hosted by SINA, the Chinese online media information service with which the team signed a long-term partnership in July

Richards, who has arranged meetings with senior government officials and business leaders, commented: "This is a very exciting trip for myself and Jenson, because China offers so many new and uncharted opportunities. The potential there is enormous. In fact, next year's race has the opportunity almost to double the existing F1 audience.

"We've already formed a close partnership with SINA, which has realised the potential F1 has to offer as a worldwide marketing tool. We're now looking at ways to expand further into the market and to raise BAR's profile in China."
