Rally Car of the Year: Citroen C4
Citroen's C4 has taken the prize for Rally Car of the Year at this evening's AUTOSPORT Awards in London
Autosport Awards
The Autosport Awards are a series of awards presented by motor racing magazine Autosport to drivers that have achieved significant milestones each season. Some of the presentations are selected by the general public via a reader's poll.
The C4 took its third straight drivers' crown with Sebastien Loeb in 2009, matching the haul of its predecessor, the Xsara.
Accepting the award from 1981 WRC champion Ari Vatanen was Citroen UK managing director Gary Savage.
"It has been a terrific season for everyone at Citroen to win the championship for a fifth time," Savage said.
"Next year, I think having Kimi Raikkonen will be great for the WRC - a contemporary F1 driver and former world champion racing against Sebastien Loeb in such a good car will be really exciting."
The pairing of Loeb and Dani Sordo also wrapped up a second consecutive manufacturers' title for Citroen, as the C4 demonstrated its capabilities on all types of surface in the WRC.
The strength of the car was proven again this year as there were more C4s on the stages than ever before. The Citroen Junior Team ran at least two cars on every event this season, with the likes of Petter Solberg even fighting to get into one of the French cars.
