Power fastest in Vegas warm-up
Pole-sitter Will Power tightened his grasp on the Champ Car field as he finished Sunday morning warm-up in Las Vegas six tenths up on his nearest challenger
The Australian lapped the 2.44-mile street course in 1:20.534, with an average speed of 109.972mph, heading former teammate Alex Tagliani, who also continued his strong seam of form with the RSPORTS team.
Neel Jani put PKV Racing into third, ahead of the man who will start in that position this afternoon, Robert Doornbos of Minardi Team USA.
Sebastien Bourdais, who starts today's race from 16th on the grid, was fifth fastest, as Bruno Junqueira and Katherine Legge showed further encouraging form for Dale Coyne Racing with sixth and seventh.
Ryan Dalziel completed more laps than anyone as the Pacific Coast Motorsports team continue up their steep learning curve, but fellow rookie and reigning Atlantic champion Simon Pagenaud of Team Australia failed to complete a lap.
Matt Halliday's eighth place - ahead of such as Graham Rahal, Justin Wilson and Paul Tracy - hints that his Conquest Racing entry should show far more pace in the race than he demonstrated in qualifying.
