Piscopo fastest in final practice

A1 Team Italy's Edoardo Piscopo headed the final practice session at Taupo ahead of qualifying later today

Piscopo's 1:15.112 lap was enough to edge out Robert Doornbos in the Team Netherlands car, with yesterday's pace-setter Neel Jani having to settle for third in the Team Switzerland entry.

The session was again marred by a succession of red flags as drivers were caught out by the dust that lay in wait for anyone who ventured off the racing line, but while there were a few close calls caused by drivers rejoining the circuit just as one of their rivals was bearing down upon them, everyone made it through the morning in one piece.

Marco Andretti gave Team USA cause for optimism when the led the middle part of the session before finishing up in fourth, while local hope Chris van der Drift ended up 11th for Team New Zealand. Dan Clarke found some overnight pace in the Team Great Britain car, but could manage no higher than 16th.
