OWRS fine with Cosworth sale
Champ Car World Series president and CEO Dick Eidswick has indicated that Ford's sale of Cosworth Racing, in Northampton, will not affect the category's future operations. "It comes as no surprise that Ford has decided to take these actions," Eidswick said in a statement. "The Champ Car World Series owns the XFE engines our teams use and this decision will not impact Champ Car's ability to compete now or in the future."

He went on to say: "We've been very pleased with our partners at Cosworth and anticipate the continuation of our relationship as both companies move forward with plans for the 2005 season."
Ford's chief technical officer Richard Parry-Jones stated on Friday that the company intends to sell Cosworth Racing as a going concern. "Since we intend for it to be profitable, it must have contracts and sources of revenue," he said. "The American racing series are important sources of revenue, so we will continue to negotiate with the North American entities to find a mutually acceptable solution that fits the model for Cosworth Racing going forward."
