National Racing Driver: Oliver Turvey

The 21-year-old Briton came close to winning British Formula 3 in his first year in the category this season. A mid-season surge of form gave him the championship lead with eight races to go, but he lost out to Jaime Alguersuari in the final race at Donington Park.

"I've had a fantastic season, to be leading British F3 in my first year. It was unfortunate to lose it at the last round, but I had some unlucky problems," he said.

"Other than that it was a great season, I had more podiums than anyone else and four wins."

Turvey, a former winner of the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award, was presented with the Paul Warwick Trophy by another fellow winner of the young driver award, retiring F1 driver David Coulthard.

Turvey is already looking to step up another level next season and has tested in both GP2 and Formula Renault 3.5 cars since the end of the season.

"I'm lucky to have Racing Steps Foundation support again - without that I wouldn't have been racing this year," he added. "We're still looking at GP2 and World Series, hopefully with a top team."
