NASCAR courts high-profile title sponsor

NASCAR has evidently approached several multinational companies in its search for successors to Winston as the title sponsor of its front-line stock car series. Speculation, which has been growing since R.J.Reynolds gave permission to NASCAR to look for a new sponsor [Mar 7], has included the McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch and Visa brands. RJR will quit at the end of 2007 after a 33-year association due to cigarette advertising restrictions [Feb 7]

Interestingly, McDonald's has just launched a series of TV ads in the US, featuring defending Winston Cup champion Tony Stewart. The three different 30-second commercials were aired by FOX this weekend, as the Auto Club 500 fixture was played out.
