Moreno: don't underestimate the rookies
Roberto Moreno believes that this weekend's Champ Car London Trophy race at Brands Hatch could be much closer than some people imagine
The 165-lap race will be run on the tight 1.2-mile Indy Circuit and there has been speculation that the lack of circuit knowledge for many drivers in the field and and the fact that there is an abundance of rookies in the field could lead to a number of cautions and traffic problems for the leaders.
"I think you will be surprised how quick the rookies are," said the vastly experienced Brazilian former Formula 1 driver. "Yes they are quite up to the job.
"The teams have a lot of knowledge about these cars and they give to the young drivers very quick cars, which gives them an easier task. So I think you will see the rookies really up there. Especially people like Mario Haberfeld, that raced here not long ago. The last time I raced here on the Indy Circuit was in 1982!"
