Montagny joins A1GP Team France
Franck Montagny will join A1GP Team France for the final two rounds of the season in China and Great Britain
The former grand prix driver will fill in for regular racer Loic Duval who has prior commitments in Formula Nippon in Japan.
Montagny had planned to race in Champ Car this season, but his potential deal with Forsythe Racing fell through the series reunified with IndyCar.
"When A1GP Team France asked me to race in the final rounds of the season I accepted without hesitation," said the 30-year-old former Super Aguri racer. "It's going to be a difficult job but I'm happy to be able to make my contribution.
"Winning the the title is still possible and I can't wait to get behind the wheel and find out the car's potential."
The French squad currently lies third in the A1GP standings, 20 points behind leaders Switzerland, with four races to go.
Team seat holder Olivier Panis added: "Pulling back 20 points is going to be a tough challenge, but Franck's arrival is a boost for the team and we're determined to do our absolute best to snatch the crown."
