Monras quickest in Snetterton test

Spanish driver Miki Monras topped the final day of pre-season Formula 2 testing at Snetterton on Wednesday

Monras quickest in Snetterton test

The GP3 graduate was over four tenths of a second quicker than Will Bratt, who had a promising outing after testing F2 machinery for the first time since the end of last season.

Monras took advantage of the heavy rain that hit the afternoon session to stay clear of his rivals.

"We have done two days of testing and they have been very positive - second in Silverstone, first here and also in the wet we had a good feeling," said Monras. "I hope we can still keep this pace at the first race; that's the goal and what we fight for."

Tobias Hegewald, another man switcing from GP3 to F2, was third fastest, with Alex Brundle in fourth and Jack Clarke completing the top five.

The test marked F2's debut at the revised Snetterton 300 circuit

The one-time Schumacher rival rebooting his career Down Under

Joey Mawson made waves in the middle of the last decade, beating future Haas Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher - among other highly-rated talents - to the 2016 German F4 title. A run in F1's feeder GP3 category only caused his career to stall, but now back in Australia Mawson's S5000 title success has set that to rights
