Mo Nunn Racing makes test debut

Driving a Reynard-Mercedes for the new outfit, Tony Kanaan set a best time of 51.9s.

'We didn't do as many miles as we'd have liked to, but I think we did quality miles, so we're off to a good start,' said team manager Steve Newey.

'We had an issue with the gearbox that we had to investigate,' he explained. 'We're somewhat short on spares right now, so we wanted to make sure we didn't have any issues with the gearbox while we're here.'

Newey was impressed by Kanaan, who recently quit Steve Horne's McDonald's Racing squad to join Nunn.

'Tony's a delight to work with,' Newey said. 'Very enthusiastic and very professional. He did a great job in the car and provided great feedback to the engineers. As a matter of fact, he was very pleased with the engine performance and very complimentary on the power and driveability of the Mercedes-Benz engine.'
