MIA adds IRL option to NASCAR trade mission
For the first time, UK company delegates attending the annual MIA NASCAR trade mission will be able to extend their trip with an organised visit to the major centre of operations by the Indy Racing League community. Attendees will travel to the heartland of stock car racing in Charlotte and Mooresville, NC (May 24-27, 2004), with the option of then flying on to Indianapolis
During the first phase of the mission, NASCAR will host a 'NASCAR Meets Motorsport Valley Day'. The MIA says that the NASCAR community collectively spends approximately £15m annually and thatt the mission will offer guidance and networking opportunities to help UK companies to tap into this growing market. The mission is also scheduled to visit the NASCAR R&D Center in Concord, NC, and the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville.
All missioners will then have the option to join a separate visit to Indianapolis to explore potential trade links with the IndyCar community, with an opportunity to watch the Indianapolis 500. The MIA says that each participating UK motorsport business will be eligible for a travel grant worth £500.
