Mexico City moved to end of season
The revamped Mexico City circuit will host the final round of this year's CART championship in a move designed to allow its construction work to be completed
The first CART race to be held at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez since 1981 will now take place over November 17-19, two weeks after the traditional season-ending 500 at the California Speedway. It was scheduled for October 13.
"I want to make it very clear that CART and the FedEx Championship Series are grateful to our partners at California Speedway and Toyota for cooperating in this schedule adjustment," said CART president Chris Pook. "We're very excited about the Champ Cars returning to Mexico City and by making this schedule adjustment it's clear that everything will be in place and ready to stage the world-class event that the fans are expecting."
The rescheduling of the Mexico City race creates a three-week gap in the calendar between the Grand Prix of the Americas at Miami October 6 and Australia's Surfers' Paradise Honda Indy 300 on October 27. The California event will take place as planned on November 3.
