McNish keen to improve form at Spa

Allan McNish is hoping for a change of luck as he tries to make up the ground he and Rinaldo Capello lost in the first two Le Mans Series rounds of the year in the third race at Spa-Francorchamps next weekend

The pair have only recorded fifth and sixth place finishes so far this season and lie sixth in the championship, while their Audi team-mates Mike Rockenfeller and Alexandre Premat lead the standings.

"I'm going to Spa determined to recover some of the ground we've lost and to register the first LMS win for the Audi R10 Tdi," he said. "In each of my races for Audi this year it's been a case of fighting back from a delay, so I'm out to change matters.

"In Barcelona an alternator belt broke, which is unheard of with Audi, and in our last race Dindo was unfortunate to get tangled up with a slower car which caused substantial damage. We had to fight back through the field both times when we'd been in contention for wins prior to our niggles."

McNish is hoping for a change in fortune with the race at Spa being the last outing for the car before the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.

"I'm certainly hoping there's a change in our fortune, especially as the big one comes up after Spa and it would be nice to head to France with a victory under our belts.

"Spa is a great, historic circuit and a large British contingent normally attends, which is nice. I expect the Peugeots to be very quick so we'll need to be cute with our strategy. The weather could play a major role as well, it's totally unpredictable in that region."
