Management restructure at Indianapolis
President and CEO Tony George has formed a new Corporate Executive Office to run the businesses owned by Hulman & Co, including Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indy Racing League. His three executive VPs will be Jeffrey Belskus, Curt Brighton and Fred Nation
As CFO, Belskus will be responsible for finance, taxes, benefits and aviation; legal counsel Brighton for legal, philanthropic, insurance, human resources and real estate; and communications director Nation for broadcasting, information technology, and PR strategy and coordination. Both Brighton and Nation have previously served as VPs of IMS.
Joie Chitwood, senior VP of business affairs, and Mel Harder, senior VP of operations, will share the leadership roles at the Speedway. Chitwood will oversee marketing, PR, sales, sponsorship, licensing, ticketing and hospitality. In the new position of senior VP of operations, Harder will be responsible for all aspects of management and operation of the facility.
At the IRL, Brian Barnhart and Ken Ungar are promoted to the positions of senior VP of operations and senior VP of business affairs respectively.
George said: "The Executive Office will be the umbrella under which each operating business will function, providing leadership to all business units and having direct responsibility for functions common to all units."
