Lola and Dome in joint F3 project
An unexpected alliance is taking on Dallara in the global Formula 3 marketplace. The foremost brand-name racecar manufacturers in Britain and Japan, Lola Cars International and Dome Co, have embarked on a ground-breaking joint venture to design and build F3 single-seaters for both the European and the Asia-Pacific markets. The Lola-Dome F3 design will principally be undertaken at Dome's factory in Yase, but both partners will make and market the cars
Lola and Dome are initially targeting Dallara Automobili's near-monopoly markets in the prime national F3 series in Britain, France, Germany and Japan next season.
The design operation is under way in Dome's HQ near Kyoto, in collaboration with a visiting team of Lola engineers. Dome's 50 percent scale wind tunnel will be used for aerodynamic development, but the carbon composite chassis production and mechanical elements manufacture will be divided between the two companies.
Dome will act as the principal seller within the Asia-Pacific region, and Lola in Europe. Lola will provide the trackside support on both continents.
