Junqueira has first Newman/Haas test

Bruno Junqueira has had his first run for leading CART team Newman/Haas, completing a two-day test for the team at the Sebring International Raceway

Three CART teams attended the test at the Florida circuit. Swiss driver Joel Camathias ran for the Dale Coyne Racing team, whilst Brazilian veteran Roberto Moreno was in action for Herdez.

Junqueira was satisfied with the progress the team made. "I think it went very well," he said. "We were trying new set-ups for the Ford engine and working to adapt the team's existing set-ups to our new package. We know we have more things to learn before we are ready for the first race but everyone is excited about starting the season."

Brian Lisles, General Manager of Newman/Haas, said: "We knew he was a talented driver based on his performance and the fact that he was one of the biggest threats we had to win the 2002 championship, but being able to work with him enforced that belief."
