Irish Team 'Likely'

A1 GP organisers have said that it is likely there will be an Irish team after the nation's flag appeared on the series' official website

The Irish colours, along with the flags of France, Germany, Italy and the USA have appeared alongside the 16 formally announced countries on the series relaunched website, www.a1gp.com.

Jordan Grand Prix founder Eddie Jordan has been linked with the venture, however no official comment has been made about the countries franchise.

It is the first time that A1 GP has confirmed the possibility of an Irish team competing alongside Team Great Britain. It is also the first time that A1 GP has announced that motor racing heritage nations America, Germany, France and Italy are likely to take part.

An A1GP spokesperson told Autosport-Atlas: "The nations we put on the website are the nations we believe, at the moment, to be the most likely to be taking part in the series. However, the contracts are still not signed and there won't be announcements until they are."

Michael and Ralf Schumacher's manager Willi Weber is believed to be in the final stages of negotiating the German franchise.
