Hulkenberg leads final practice

Nico Hulkenberg put championship leaders Team Germany on top in Saturday practice for the Durban A1GP race

An additional ten minutes were added to the morning session to make up for the practice time lost when kerbing began to break up on Friday.

While the circuit itself stayed intact this time, there were no fewer than four red flag interruptions during the session.

Mexico's Salvador Duran prompted the first red flag when he removed his front wing on the chicane kerbing. Three further stoppages followed as Australia's Karl Reindler, Ireland's Richard Lyons and Team Brazil's new recruit Bruno Junqueira all made contact with the barriers.

Hulkenberg had a comfortable 0.4 second margin over nearest challenger Loic Duval, who had been fastest for Team France in both Friday sessions.

But the star of Saturday practice was series returnee Alvaro Parente, who put Team Portugal third in their first appearance of the 2006/7 season.

The Portuguese squad had sat out the opening rounds of the championship while searching for new financial backing.
