Herta to replace Carpentier at Forsythe?

Patrick Carpentier is looking for a new team for 2001 as relations between him and the Players Forsythe team seem to have reached breaking point

Forsythe and Carpentier may even part ways before the end of the season, and Bryan Herta is ready and waiting to fill the seat.

The Amercican is due to test for the team at the California venue on Friday, adding fuel to the rumours that he may finish the season with Forsythe in place of Carpentier.

Herta was due to drive for the Gerry Forsythe's secondary team in CART this season until a dispute over franchises resulted in Forsythe Championship Racing pulling out of the series before the first race.

Carpentier joined Forsythe in 1998 as rookie of the year, but the partnership has produced just a handful of podium finishes in three years.

The French Canadian, in his third year with the team, has been overshadowed by rookie Alex Tagliani this season. Tagliani - yet to win a race - has retired from the lead at Rio, Michigan and Road America.
