GRM pair on Winton front row

Garry Rogers Motorsport duo Jason Bargwanna and Garth Tander will start from the front row in tomorrow's Australian V8 Supercar races at Winton

This was Tander's first drive in an up-to-date Holden Commodore VT. He has previously raced a four year-old VS, taking one win this year. His team-mate Bargwanna has had a surprisingly quiet season so far, but was 2nd in the last round and would seem to be back on the pace.

'It's taken us a while this year but we've worked hard and things are really starting to come together,' he said. 'I've had great success here in Formula Holden and Formula Ford, so I will enjoy racing from the front tomorrow.'

Best of the title contenders is Russell Ingall, 3rd on the grid and not overjoyed about it.

He said: 'I'm pretty disappointed. We tested here and did some good times but I made a bad call on tyres during the session and blew any chance of reproducing those times. It was my fault.'

The Holden Racing Team pair struggled. Mark Skaife is down in 10th while Craig Lowndes returned to action after his massive Calder Park shunt last month but could only manage 14th.

Former BTCC hero Paul Radisich is 11th, seven places ahead of his team-mate Dick Johnson.
