Goeters joins Team Mexico in China
Jorge Goeters has joined A1GP Team Mexico for the races at Shanghai this weekend
The 37-year-old former NASCAR racer will also take on the role of driver coach for the team after the event in China.
Goeters has raced in the NASCAR Nationwide (formerly Busch) Series in recent years and is also a former NASCAR Mexico champion.
His last outing in a single-seater was in May 2005 when he contested the Champ Car round at Monterrey, Mexico for PKV Racing.
"I am glad to be the designated driver at Shanghai," he said. "I don't know the car or the track but we're going to do our best to deliver and we have the rookie session to work on the car ahead of qualifying."
Team Mexico boss Julio Jauregui added: "Jorge's experience and excellent communication with the engineer will provide good ideas for the team and we hope he will do well.
"We had several options and Esteban Gutierrez and David Martinez are welcome to race for us in the future."
