Go-ahead for Brands

The BRSCC, which organises the events, was forced to can the Snetterton meeting because of a lack of competitor interest. Only 35 cars were entered for the entire meeting, which was set to include both Zetec and Kent-engined FFords, as well as saloons. Despite the setback, organiser Steve Burns maintains that Brands Hatch will run

Burns said: "I would not foresee any problems. The entry is a little better and Brands is certainly on. We could not justify running Snetterton. The overall entry was too low and the circuit agreed we should call it off."

BRSCC Executive Director Drew Furlong added: "We were very surprised. We had some races oversubscribed last year. The lack of entries baffled us this year.
"But Brands is filling as we speak and we should average about 20 in each race. It must be the kudos of running at Brands Hatch - people actually like it."

Burns denied rumours that the BRSCC had already resolved not to run a Winter Series next year. He said: "That is just speculation. We always look at the Winter Series on an annual basis, and we will continue to do so."
