Franchitti weighs up his options
Dario Franchitti's future plans are up in the air as he prepares for this weekend's Rockingham 500, the UK's Champ Car round
"I want to race where the compettion is best," the Scot revealed in an interview in AUTOSPORT's 36-page Rockingham 500 supplement. "but right now there are just so many unanswered questions."
Franchitti's contract with Team Kool Green is up at the end of this season and the team, under new owner Michael Andretti, is widely tipped to switch to the all-oval track Indy Racing League. Franchitti has yet to win on an oval and so is unlikely to be over-keen to stay with the team, though Andretti wants to keep him.
"I love the variety and competitiveness of CART," added Franchitti, "and that's where I'd like to stay."
Franchitti says he still has plenty of time to put a deal together for next season, but Champ Car openings are few and far between, so his most realistic option may well be to stick with the re-named Andretti-Green Racing and engine supplier Honda.
