Franchitti closes in on Montoya
After finishing second in yesterday's CART race in Houston, Dario Franchitti is now just 13 points behind championship leader Juan Montoya.
The Scot, who drives for Team Green, finished a strong second to his team-mate Paul Tracy collecting 16 valuable championship points.
His main rival, Columbian Juan Montoya collided with the stricken race car of Helio Castro-Neves 12 laps into the race.
Montoya finished with just one point - for leading the race for 12 laps.
Montoya's lead over Franchitti is now 200-187 with just two rounds [Surfers Paradise and the California Speedway] to go in the series.
'Second place is a good result,' Franchitti said after the race. 'With Montoya's bad fortune, this certainly makes things closer in the championship race.'
After crashing out of the race, Montoya claimed he was upset with his team, Ganassi Racing, for not informing him Castro-Neves was stationary on the track.
'This was not the way we wanted to end this day,' he commented.
'We had a great car all weekend and we were really fast early in the race.
'Obviously, I'm very upset about running into Helio Castro-Neves, but the season is not over. We still have two races to go.'
