Fittipaldi fastest in Long Beach GP warm-up

Christian Fittipaldi was fastest in the morning warm-up for today's Long Beach Grand Prix, round two of CART's FedEx Series

The Newman-Haas driver took his Lola-Toyota around the Californian street circuit in 1m09.993s (101.222mph), edging pole-sitter Helio Castroneves's Penske Racing Reynard-Honda by 0.114s.

Fastest non-Brazilian was Sweden's Kenny Brack, driving a Team Rahal Lola-Ford, with Patrick Carpentier the fastest North American in fourth. The Canadian's Forsythe Lola-Ford headed up Shinji Nakano and Dario Franchitti, with the Scot finally making progress after a frustrating two days of practice and qualifying.

The race starts at 21:00 BST (13:00 US West Coast time). Get all the news, views and results on Autosport.com.
