F1 British GP questions in House of Lords

In the light of the UK Government's support for London's bid for the 2012 Olympic Games, Motorsport Industry Association president Lord Astor of Hever has formally asked the Government to outline its position towards the F1 British GP, by means of three questions tabled in the House of Lords

Lord Astor has asked: "What meetings have [the Government] held with Formula One Management and the British Racing Drivers Club on the subject of retaining the British Grand Prix?"

In addition he has enquired: "In the light of the International Olympic Committee's report of May 18, which stated that the British Olympic bid came eighth out of nine in terms of Government support, what action will they take to retain the British Grand Prix?"

Finally, he has called on the Government to explain: "What action will they take in the light of the Department of Trade & Industry Motorsport Competitiveness Panel recommendation that the Motorsport Development Board should access appropriate resources to ensure that the UK continues to host key world-class motorsport events?"
