Dominguez tops warm-up
Forsythe Championship Racing proved that fifth and sixth on the grid is not representative of their ultimate potential in today's Grand Prix of Long Beach, by finishing the Sunday morning warm-up first and third fastest
Mexico's Mario Dominguez continues to make huge progress in his first race back with engineer John Cannon and that was revealed with his fastest time, 0.126 seconds ahead of pole-sitter Sebastien Bourdais of Newman Haas Racing.
Their respective teammates Paul Tracy and Bruno Junqueira were third and fourth.
RuSPORT duo AJ Allmendinger and Justin Wilson, who will start fourth and second respectively, were just fifth and ninth.
CTE Racing-HVM's Nelson Philippe was the surprise of the session with sixth, having finally cured the major understeer problem that has thus far plagued his weekend. His British teammate Dan Clarke continues his fine seam of form with 10th fastest.
Compatriot Katherine Legge was 17th quickest for PKV Racing, 2.1 seconds off Dominguez, and splitting Conquest Racing pairing Andrew Ranger and Charles Zwolsman.
While Conquest continue to struggle, Dale Coyne Racing's revival continues, Jan Heylen and Cristiano da Matta ending up a mere 1.2 seconds from the ultimate pace.
