CytoSport recruits Luhr for Petit

Lucas Luhr will join the CytoSport Porsche driver line-up for Petit Le Mans

Team owner and driver Greg Pickett has had to delay his return following a back injury suffered in a testing accident, opening a seat for Luhr in the American Le Mans Series finale at Road Atlanta.

Four-time ALMS champion Luhr will join regular CytoSport driver Klaus Graf, as well as Sascha Maassen, who links up with the team for the third time this season.

Maassen and Luhr have raced together before, having won three ALMS series titles together between 2002 and 2006.

Luhr, who has taken series victories in the GT, LMP2 and LMP1 classes of the ALMS, is excited about getting back into a Porsche RS Spyder and about being part of a winning team.

"As we have seen all season, the team is doing well and they are proven winners," the German said. "It will be a pleasure to drive for them.

"It will also be nice to drive the Spyder again. I drove the first race [the Porsche competed in] at Laguna Seca together with Sascha and then we won the championship in the Spyder the following year so I have great memories behind the wheel of this car."

Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas have deputised for Pickett in the two races since he was injured at Mid-Ohio.
