Brack fastest on first test day

CART rookie Kenny Brack set the pace in the opening test session at the Homestead oval in Miami.

The Swede, who has joined the CART series from the Indy Racing League, set the quickest time at the start of the Spring Training pre-season test in his Rahal Reynard Cosworth.

Ford powered cars filled the first five places, with Michael Andretti setting second fastest time in the Newman Haas Lola.

Defending Champion Juan Montoya wound up 13th fastest, running in Ganassi's new Lola-Toyota package, while British racers Dario Franchitti and Mark Blundell took eighth and 10th places respectively.

The two-day test at the 1.5-mile oval finishes on Thursday afternoon, as the teams prepare for the first race of the season at Homestead on March 26.
