Brack fastest in warm-up

The Team Rahal driver was 0.2s quicker than Gil de Ferran, who will start on the outside of the front row for Penske.

Polesitter Dario Franchitti was only 14th quickest.

Star of the session was undoubtedly Memo Gidley, fifth quickest for Della Penna. The young American has been much faster in the races than in qualifying at the past three meetings and looks set to continue that trend at Road America, although he will start only 18th.

The Motorola 220 starts at 7pm UK time. Autosport.com will bring you live lap-by-lap commentary plus a full report at the end of what should be one of the most spectacular races of the season so far.
