Brack ends Friday fastest
Kenny Brack ended Friday's free practice sessions at the top of the lists. To emphasise the competitiveness of the 2000 series, all four engine manufacturers are represented in the top four fastest times
Brack was fastest in both Friday's sessions, on the day that Team Rahal confirmed he would be driving the Shell Reynard-Ford in 2001.
Cristiano da Matta was second fastest in the PPI Reynard-Toyota, Helio Castroneves third in the Penske Reynard-Honda, and Tony Kanaan completed the top four in the Nunn Racing Reynard-Mercedes.
Paul Tracy crashed his Green Reynard-Honda in the closing stages of the day, damaging the front of his car, but the Canadian emerged unhurt.
Championship leader Michael Andretti -- Newman-Haas's only representative follwing Christian Fittipaldi's crash -- also had a day to forget, suffering poor handling which left him down in 18th position.
